You Shouldn't Have to Explain This to Him Too.
You're carrying enough. Explaining perimenopause to your husband, while you're in it, shouldn't be another job on your list. If you've been searching "what I wish my husband knew about perimenopause", this page is the answer, written so he'll actually read it.
So I'll do the explaining. Bloke to bloke.
I'm Phil. Married 26 years. My wife is going through perimenopause right now, and for too long I had no idea. I thought she was cranky. I thought it was me. I got it wrong in most of the ways a husband can get it wrong.
My wife is the reason this exists. Her words: other women need to know that their husbands have no idea about this stuff, and need somewhere to send them.
Send Him One of These. That's the Whole Job.
If your husband doesn't understand perimenopause yet, that's normal, not a character flaw. Nobody taught him. Pick whichever format fits him best and send it. That's genuinely the whole job on your end.
If he reads
Send him the free Weather Report. Two pages. It teaches him to read your days (storm warning, overcast, clearing, sunshine) instead of taking them personally. Thirty seconds, on his phone.
If he'd rather listen
Send him Episode 1 of the podcast. About twenty minutes in the ute or the shed, it's the one that covers everything. It's one bloke talking to another. No lecture, no jargon.
If he's ready for the whole thing
The book. Twenty-two chapters of what I got wrong and what actually worked. Plenty of wives buy it for their husbands. Some read it first. That's allowed.
"He's not refusing to understand. Nobody ever taught him. Nobody brought us up on this. That changes now." The Perimenopause Husband
A Straight Answer About What This Is
This is not a medical resource, and I never pretend otherwise. It's the other half of the picture: what's happening at home, and what he can actually do. It sits alongside whatever you and your doctor decide, and it never gets in the way of that.
And you're welcome here too. Women reply to every episode and every email. Your side of it helps every man listening.
If you're worried this is bigger than a rough patch, read this first.
